  The Neelin Spartans are taking their show on the road in the Winnipeg High School Football League playoffs.

 

  The Spartans finished in seventh-place in the Andy Currie 'A' Division with a record of 3-4 and will take on the second-place Lorette Scorpions in Thursday's quarter-final, who they never met during the regular season.

 

  Neelin snapped a four-game slide by winning their regular season finale in Winnipeg last Friday 15-14 over the Tec Voc Hornets.

  The playoff picture is in place in the Rural Manitoba High School Football League.


  The Parkwest Outlaws are visiting the Swan Valley Tigers in one semifinal, while the other semi has the Neepawa Tigers are on the road against the Moosomin Generals.


  Parkwest posted a 5-3 record to finish in second-place in the South Division and lost their lone meeting against Swan Valley 42-7.


  Both semifinal games start at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the winners advancing to play for the Doug Steeves Cup on November 1st.


  In the consolation semifinals on Saturday, the Dauphin Clippers enterain the Virden Golden Bears and the Southwest Sabres welcome the East Parkland Warriors with those teams vying for the Murray Black Cup.

  The Westman-based Prairie Mountain Predators look to put their best foot forward at the Provincial High School Cross Country Championship at Spruce Woods on Wednesday.

 

  The Predators, which have athletes from Somerset and Swan Lake, won the varsity girls' championship in 2012 and the JV girls' title in 2011.

  

  Prairie Mountain had a good run at the 2013 provincials, finishing second on the varsity girls' side and third in the JV girls category.

  The team is in Morden on Saturday to play the defending champion Pembina Valley Hawks, who knocked out the Wildcats in the championship final a year-ago.
